There’s still time to book your seat in St John’s Church, Kenilworth for the final concert given by Coventry Cathedral Chorus this season. You’ll need to be quick as the concert begins at 7.00pm this coming Saturday, 12 June.

The concert, which features Elizabethan and Tudor music is one of the events marking the 450th anniversary of the visit of Queen Elizabeth to the town. She is at the heart of the concert, with several of the pieces written in her honour. There’s a large supporting cast, too. Listen out for Phyllis, Amyntas, Diana and Flora; for swans, geese, sheep and birds; and mythical nymphs, satyrs and fauns.

England at this time was a strongly religious country, so alongside all the merriment and fa-la-la-ing there are a number of more contemplative items.
